We will contact you via email to discuss further.

Our Pharmacy and Boenninghausen LM remedy kit.

There are only two things a practitioner has in his or her favour. The first is the ability to practice homoeopathy in the Hahnemannian manner to elicit prescribing symptoms that are accurate, and the second is a good preparation of the appropriate medicine.

remedyThe I.H.M. is addressing the first issue via its teaching course. The second issue had proved harder to overcome, but long discussions with a dedicated Pharmacist here in Seville Spain, and many hours of working through the making of the remedies according to Hahnemanns protocol, has produced the manufacture of the LM potencies from source to finished product in the correct way.

What we cannot prepare ourselves, has been made by 2 other laboratories, of which Gary Weaver has personally visited and examined the manufacturing process of each remedy.

p1060360Each country has its own Pharmacopeia for which the pharmacies adhere to in manufacture of the remedies. Where it conflicts or deviates from the instructions in the Organon has proved to be an issue for the IHM. We have striven to overcome these obstacles by making the source tincture as best we can in the original manner. The preparations are made in a strictly controlled environment of a one way air flow, sealed chambers, extraction units, and everything is done by hand. Each part of the manufacture process is exactly as Hahnemann instructed.

p1060363In our Seville Pharmacy, The final medicating of the granules is done in sealed laboratory conditions.

We are pleased to offer a Boenninghausen Remedy kit of the following medicines in the LM 0/1 potency for use with the P&W Therapeutic Pocket Book. We made the decision to supply the kit in a delivery container rather than a lovely box or remedy case, to keep the costs down. These can be bought through companies on the internet for various prices.

For students of the IHM courses, we offer the following remedies for €280 plus postage if required. (€2.24 a medicine. £1.99 each!)

For non students, we offer the kit for €380 plus postage.

We know the hours that have gone into preparing these medicines. For this quality of hand preparation, the remedies individually sell for €10 a vial.

Recently, I cracked a rib and had complications arising from the situation. I was using a medicine prepared by another pharmacy, and while it helped, it was not moving along as expected. As soon as the same remedy was prepared in our pharmacy, I used it. Within 2 days a marked improvement set in and the complications disappeared. The rib was pain free within 5 days. Also, for a patient with joint pains, the remedy worked IMMEDIATELY and a reduction of 80% of the pain was felt within one day.

Contact the IHM regarding purchase of the kits by filling in this form here.

Symptoms and all that.

So aphorism 6 is the bedrock of detailing how symptoms expressed by the organism in disease, both mental and physical, are the totality of disease. Wonderful, we have the complete picture of the disease now.

Yet, and in truth… it doesn’t really help except where an application of common sense and thought process is applied to the knowledge.

Here is the rub. Most homoeopaths just throw symptoms into the repertory, lots of them and gives what comes up top.

185309103Not so fast you prescribers, not so fast.

Aphorism 153 details what we do with the picture of the disease.

the more striking, singular, uncommon and peculiar (characteristic) signs and symptoms of the case of disease are chiefly and most solely to be kept in view; for it is more particularly these that very similar ones in the list of symptoms of the selected medicine must correspond to, in order to constitute it the most suitable for effecting the cure.

The more general and undefined symptoms: loss of appetite, headache, debility, restless sleep, discomfort, and so forth, demand but little attention when of that vague and indefinite character, if they cannot be more accurately described, as symptoms of such a general nature are observed in almost every disease and from almost every drug.

This is finding the essential nature of the disease from which all other symptoms spring, and thus can be ignored.

We teach this in the course with case examples. Many case examples.

What is homoeopathy?

“Dear Gary

I was a student of yours in 1989 attending the clinical training sessions that you ran in Henley on Thames.  (U.K) You were using Kunzlis version of the Kent’s repertory at the time and expressed dissatisfaction with Kent’s work. You taught us to use the larger rubrics rather than the more individual rubrics as you stated that they were inaccurate. In 2010 I came across the IHM again and was amazed and delighted to see the work put into correcting the Bönninghausen’s repertory.  I have purchased the English book version of it and the benefits have been enormous in practice. Well done.

What do you think of homoeopathy as practiced today and what of its future?

 D.L. Oxfordforshire. UK.

P.S. I am in contact with S.H. who worked with you this year for three days. She has gone from strength to strength in her clinical work and reports a vast increase in patient success and management. I will be contacting you for the training myself next year in Seville.”

Dear D.

…………………… So to answer one of your questions…

Homoeopathy : What it is in real terms.

In a wider sense Homoeopathy, in the first place, means a method of scientific study and therapeutic practice; in the second place, means the facts discovered by this method; and thirdly, signifies the theories that have been propounded to explain and correlate these facts.

In other words Homoeopathy implies a particular way of applying drugs of diseases according to a specific principle, known as “Similia Similibus Curentur” (let likes be treated by likes); and implies as well the theories of vital force, of chronic miasms and of dynamisation of drugs.

In a narrower or stricter sense Homoeopathy is “a rule of practice for the administration of drugs” and for that matter of other (physical) agents; or it mayphoto1 be called the “Medicine of likes” (as etymologically ‘homois’ means like or similar-‘pathos’ meaning suffering). In other words Homoeopathy is a method of curing the sufferings of a person by the administration of drugs which have been experimentally proved to possess power of producing similar sufferings in a healthy human being. It is a specialised system of drug therapy and nothing more or nothing less.

There is a difference in the law of similars and Homoeopathy “the practice or therapy”. The law of similia is a universal natural law and the therapy called homoeopathy, is one way to apply it.

I as a homoeopathic physician have come to appreciate the value inherent in the Hahnemannian approach and practice of medicine, as being logical and sound in every respect.

Hahnemann placed the emphasis on observed phenomena as being the expression of the dis-ease of the organism in an individual way. Hahnemann brought to the medical world the concept of fixing the biological whole as the most adequate for studying and interpreting living phenomena, and left behind the notion of mechanical causality as being representative of the organism.

Hahnemanns thoughts match with modern concepts of life which can ONLY be expressed in terms of life. All other advances in physiology are nothing but understanding the chemical/physical processes underlying the living phenomena.

We can only study man from an organismal viewpoint and not from that of a mechanism.  An organism grows from within and belongs exclusively to ‘life’. Hahnemann left behind speculation and attempts to explain how a drug works on a human body, to him the association or symptoms was enough. Hahnemann approached medicine from pure observation and existing phenomena. He never made presumptions over the facts nor speculated on the unknown.

Hahnemanns model of use of the therapy, is based exclusively on a substance being able to replicate a state or group of symptoms that the patient is experiencing and exhibiting. The substance is SIMILAR in its effect, not the same. A medicine cannot create a known disease but can cause a symptom complex that is prominent in the patients exhibited disease. A patient exhibits a response to an infection, and the body reflects it individually. Hahnemann saw this as the immune response from the organism, and if strong, the body was unable to rectify the situation due to managing all the other symptoms appearing internally as well. He discovered that giving a similar substance that caused a slightly stronger artificial disease in the organism, would focus the immune response to that group of symptoms and remove the artificially imposed disease state, and take the natural disease state with it.

All this you know. I state merely for background. The Materia Medica comprises of millions of words and thousands of hours in meticulous testing of substances and the collating of the accurate information.

To this end, the matching of the disease state cannot be achieved by interpretation of the proved symptoms. A symptom cannot modified at the practitioners whim to be more than it is. For example, Kent placed “Desire for Light” in the Mind section of his repertory instead of placing it under eye or vision. It has been used interpretively as a person seeking clarification or truth or understanding rather than the proving symptom that the person cant see very well In the darkness!

We see today in the West that there is a huge shift from the Materia Medica provings to reliance on mental/emotional states and delusions. Hahnemanns works and directions are no longer taught except superficially. An incorrect grouping of medicines has been promulgated contrary to the instructions of Hahnemann.

I would go as far as to say that those that follow Kent rather than Hahnemann, have not understood the reality of the practice. Certainly in the west now, homoeopathy is but the name associated with the giving of remedies and not the actual practice of the therapy as defined.

Hahnemann’s discovery is essentially a practical method, an organon, an instrument for achieving in the best possible manner, a desired specific purpose viz., that of curing the sick. Homoeopathy is not a doctrine or a system of medicine, as the later followers of Hahnemann tried to establish. He pointed out the defects of any kind of system building in the province of Medicine; and it will be a matter of great pity if we fall into the same error against which he warned us with all the emphasis that his language could command.

Homoeopathy attempts to explain nothing, wants to reject nothing (whatsoever is a perceptible fact) and scrupulously avoid any assumption which cannot be legitimately deduced from observed facts. It speculates neither with theories of life, nor health nor of disease. It affords no conclusive explanation of how drugs produce or cure disease. It is a method of pure factual observation. It takes into account two sets of phenomena viz., disease phenomena produced by natural causes and the artificial disease phenomena produce by drugs on the healthy individuals.

Like man diseases present various aspects for study, each with a particular purpose in view. For example, a sick man can be studied from aetiological, diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic points of view. Before Hahnemann (the physicians confused one aspect of the disease with the other and could not discern what is the object of treatment and cure. They did not realise that the therapeutic aspect of a disease is a distinct aspect relatively independent of other aspects. Hence the therapeutic art could not be raised to an independent level—having laws and phenomena of its own; whereas, the other aspects of disease were attempted to be studied scientifically and therapeutics in their hands turned out to be more an applied science rather than an art.

Questions that have been asked regarding homoeopathy.

What is Psora?

220px-hahnemannPsora is Hahnemanns model for a disease process stemming from a singular root. Hahnemann considered it as the most common ailment to affect mankind. He also made the point that it was acquired by INFECTION and therefore was not transferred by hereditary.  A full and thorough examination of the medical models of Psora Sycosis and Syphilis is conducted in the IHM Advanced training course. It is not a disease per se, it is a process via infection and the resultant sequela.

What are Homoeopathic remedies?

Homoeopathic remedies are medicines. They are powerful substances that should not be given except when required in a particular circumstance for a set of matching symptoms in a disease state to aid the immune system to overcome the illness.

Schuesslers Tissue Salts.

Not homoeopathy. Not based on proper evaluation or proving protocol. Dangerous if misused.

Remedy repetition, alternation of remedies and changes of remedies.

Sadly, a lot of information on the web is incorrect. Remedies should always be given in water, not repeated whilst a curative action is taking place, and not alternated morning and night. Remedies are given on a totality basis and when that totality changes, only then should the remedy be changed. Also, whilst under the action of a remedy, symptoms may change, HOWEVER a change of remedy should not be thought of unless the disease picture changes, not just a single symptom. Qualification of this statement is discussed in the advanced training course.

Use of remedies.

They should not be used to ‘boost’ the immune system and should always be used sparingly and just enough to let the body do the work. The totality of symptoms is not the same as the totality of all the symptoms of the disease. (Aph 6, 153 and Aph 253). It is hard enough for a trained physician to elicit prescribing symptoms so for the home user it is even more difficult. Repetition or change of medicines should be done judiciously, and not using a whole plethora of medicines. Chasing symptoms with medicines will make a person very sick.

Q1/. I have experienced aggravation of the symptoms after taking what seems to be the correct remedy. Itch and headache for example. Is this due to the low potency? I mostly use 30C.

Q1A/ Impossible to qualify in an answer without knowing the problem or whether the remedy is correct. It depends on dose frequency, how is taken and what is termed an aggravation of symptoms.

tpbpwQ2/. When selecting the symptoms of a disease in the TPB, selecting two different areas of the body and two different modalities for the sensation, how does the program recognize which sensation is related to which modality? Or is this irrelevant?

Q2A/. The evaluation model used by Boenninghausen is a synthetic approach which sorts out the relationship of rubrics/symptoms.

Q3/. In a chronic case, how can a homeopath tell how long to continue the first dose and how often?

Q3A/. A dose is a single application of a medicine. Evaluation of its action will be a combination of re-action, changes, and watching carefully. Repeating the dose will be based on the criteria in the Organon.

Q4/. In order to verify that patient has a latent psora, does the physician always have to look for sign of an itch that may have been present only in the past?

Q4A/. The homoeopath does not need to verify this. The totality of symptoms is the only method of prescribing. Most information on the web regarding Psora.Sycosis and Syphilis is totally incorrect therefore treatment of a ‘miasmatic’ disease may be for the wrong miasm. A careful understanding of the medical model may include using Sulphur or Mercurius but will be applied on the basis of symptoms exhibited or suppressed.

Q5/. Should the remedy Warnings always be checked before prescribing?

Q5A/. Given that again, most of the information regarding remedies is incorrect, we have found it best to heed the comments by Hahnemann in his writings on each individual remedy.

Q6/. I remember you saying that one symptom is not a disease. If there are modalities associated with that symptom, is it still a single symptom? Or does the physician have to look for another symptom as well?

Q6A/. A symptom comprises of a location, a sensation and modalities. A symptom for prescribing does not exist without these three components. This is then a complete symptom. It will need the same criteria applied to each symptom considered for evaluation. One symptom does not a case make.

Q7/. I can understand by reading the chronic Diseases that if the itch is suppressed by means of ointments, baths of sulphur or mercury or other modern methods, it can bring about other diseases or symptom. If a symptom of a disease that is not an itch, and it is supressed, can that also act like a psora and bring about another disease or a symptom? What about Syphilis and Sycosis, are they supposed to be treated as Psora?

Q7A/. You understand incorrectly. There is no such thing as ‘a Psora’. Psora is in the medical model a singular disease process from which all expressions of the Psoric disease originate. Suppression on any level will not create a ‘new’ disease, but will produce a different expression of the same disease and possibly of a more dangerous nature due to having to find an alternate outlet. All diseases are treated via the methodology of how the organism reacts to the infecting agent. It is an individualising of the REACTIVE process rather than the infection that guides for a prescription.

Q8/. Lastly which may sound awkward or silly. Can psora be treated and got rid of completely?

Q8A/. I see the disease in question can be removed with treatment. As to removal of Psora completely, I do not think so. A person is always liable to reinfection.
